This event, where England and Australia have squared off in cricket’s biggest rivalry since 1882, may have the best nickname in sport. An English paper, after an early Australian win in the series, satirically wrote that English cricket was dead, and the body had been taken to Australia to be cremated. England’s rallying cry thus became to go to Australia and “Bring back the ashes.”
The oldest thoroughbred race in the United States is run every summer at Saratoga Race Course, one of its most beautiful and historic tracks.
