What a Week!

Written by Tom Walsh on June 7th, 2014 with

Very few weeks present more of the world's top sporting events than the one ahead.  A quick summary follows on what is ahead in the coming days.

The French Open (#36 on TUSL), the second leg of tennis' Grand Slam, concludes this weekend in Paris.

In New York City, the Belmont Stakes (#120) runs this afternoon, with California Chrome attempting to make history as the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

The historic Epsom Derby (#149) will be held today in England.  First run in 1780, it is one of sports' oldest events.

The Stanley Cup Final (#14) resumes tonight in Los Angeles, as the LA Kings and New York Rangers battle for one of sports' greatest trophies.  Later in the week the finals will move to New York's historic Madison Square Garden (#99).

The Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs will go at it again tomorrow night in game two of the NBA Finals (#25).  Will the air conditioner be working and how will Lebron's cramps hold up?

One of sports greatest events, the FIFA World Cup (#2) begins its month long run in Brazil on Thursday.

The US Open Golf Championship (#23) begins on Thursday at historic Pinehurst #2 in North Carolina.

And finally, the eight contestants of the College World Series (#54) will be determined this weekend and head to Omaha, where the championship will get underway next week.

So many opportunities to check one of the world's greatest sporting events off you bucket list!
