Madison Square Garden

Madison Square Garden, a multi-purpose arena smack dab in the middle of south Mid-Town Manhattan on 8th Avenue between 31^st & 33^rd streets, is a well-trafficked arena. The Garden, as the locals call it, is heralded as the “World’s Busiest Arena,” hosting approximately 320 events in any given year.

It opened on February 11, 1968, on the former grounds of Penn Station, the Pennsylvania Railroad Company’s former New York City depot. The former station’s lines still run beneath the arena, so if you’re watching a Rangers game and somebody slams into the glass, you might actually be hearing the trains rumble beneath you.

It cost an estimated $123 million to build (in the sixties) and hosts hockey, basketball, arena football, NCAA basketball, lacrosse, rock n’ roll, and political conventions of all stripes. The arena boasts nearly 20,000 square feet of available floor space, so if you’ve got an idea, The Garden can likely execute a plan.
