The Cricket World Cup is said to be the world’s largest and most widely viewed sporting event, vying with Super Bowl and the UEFA Football Championship for broadcast dominance.

The event has taken place every four years since 1975, with qualifying matches leading up to the actual tournament, and as the cup is often played in the tropics (the last cup was held in the West Indies) in March and April, the setting can be quite pleasant.

But the niceties end there. These teams play to win, and cricket at bats are held over an extended duration. Combine that with pitches reaching 95-100 mph, and a cricket batter’s ability to withstand sustained examinations, and you’ve got yourself a game.
