Notre Dame Stadium

If you’ve never been to Notre Dame’s campus in South Bend, Indiana, be warned – the place is dripping with history.

Opened in 1930 with an original capacity of 54,000, Notre Dame Stadium has seen its fare share of action. The original capacity has been increased to 80,795, lighting has been added, but the natural grass and that historic feel remain.

The Fighting Irish have fought some battles at the stadium, and maintain an all-time winning percentage of .734 – not too shabby – so the chances that you’ll see a good game under the watchful gaze of Touchdown Jesus – the mural at the south end of the stadium – are very high.

Knute Rockne, Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian, and Lou Holtz have all taken home national championships for the Irish – with Rockne taking a total of six alone.

In step with that history, there are no giant televisions at Notre Dame Stadium – just two modest scoreboards – evoking a traditional game experience that ranked it #2 on the Sporting News’ list of College Football Cathedrals.
