The Solheim Cup

Named for the founder of the Ping golf club company, Karsten Solheim, the Solheim Cup is the LPGA equivalent of the men’s Ryder Cup, pitting international golf superstars against each other in a match play format between teams drawn by selections from team captains.

The event is staged every two years and alternates with Ryder Cup, so you’ll be able to catch the action from the best of the LPGA and the PGA tours.

American and European Solheim teams are drawn according to a points system and the results from the Ladies European Tour (LET) respectively. Captains for each of the teams are picked for their Solheim Cup experience – and their trusted ability to pit each players strengths against that of their competitors on game day.

The tournament alternates between European and American courses, so its up to the spectator to decide exactly how much of a trip a Solheim Cup is going to be.
