Kyle Field at Texas AM University

Kyle field is an intimidating venue – from the mascots buried at the end of the field to the press high rise press box to the 12^th Man, the A&M Jumbotron, opposing teams do not find a welcome respite when the step onto the field of battle in College Station.

Texans love football, and depending on which end of the state you’re from, you either live and bleed Aggies football or you don’t.

So in 1904, when Edwin Jackson Kyle, a former student and professor of horticulture at the university, was named president of the General Athletics Association, he knew he had to build an appropriate cathedral in which the faithful could worship.

Texas A&M was unwilling to provide funds, so Kyle fenced in a parcel at the southwest end of campus that had been assigned to him for agricultural use and, using $650 in personal funds, he purchased a grandstand from a local fairground and built wooden bleachers to accommodate 500 fans.

Oh how times change. Current capacity is well-over 80,000.
